About the T-shirts
Taking Care
Well, a t-shirt is just a t-shirt, Right? Wrong.
We decided to source t-shirts, designed around the problems people usually discover after buying: poor fit, thin fabric, twisting seams, shrinkage, material fading, and of course, that “looked good once, never again” feeling.
Our focus is on t-shirts that feel reliable across repeated wear. That means paying attention to the things other brands and customers sometimes overlook at first glance, like: fabric weight, stitching quality, neckline recovery, fit consistency, comfort, durability, and last but not least, how the shirt behaves after washing.
We do not see a t-shirt as a throwaway basic. We see it as the piece you reach for again and again... and again — so it needs to earn its space in your routine.
At the very least, we also want you to know that there are better ways to take care of your clothes.
Simple and familiar frustrations: too many t-shirts bought = worn not enough times, as they are quietly demoted to the back of the wardrobe.
T-shirts shrink, twist, fade, feel cheap, lose shape, do not fit the way they did at first. They become “house only” shirts far too soon.
We want to offer you a t-shirts that feel more considered, more useful, and more dependable — pieces that respect the customer’s money, routine, and expectations.
Feel free to look into our care-guide for further suggestions.
We do not claim our shirts are perfect.
Like a particular super-villain, disappointment is inevitable but, like a group of super-heroes, there is always a way to win.
We takes those common customer frustrations seriously: collars that collapse, fabric that thins, fits that change, seams that twist, and products that look better online than in real life.
Rather than ignoring those experiences, we use them as a checklist.
Being a helpful t-shirt brand, we don't want to say “ours are better.”, but instead show you and maybe we can help each other understand what better means, where to look for it, and why those details matter.
Here's the thing.
We want to make quality, accessible and attractive blank t-shirts available to everyone. Regardless of gender. To do so, we started with a blank slate, working with mens templates. This allows for easy to transform and adjust for all body types. Our Loop and Glyde t-shirts are less 'boxy', with waist and sleeve adjustments to accommodate women and men with tighter-fit preferences.
Our approach is focused on how people actually wear t-shirts, rather than forcing every customer into a plethora of gender and specific narrow assumptions.
Different bodies need different fits, and we take that into account. The key is helping customers understand the cut, measurements, and intended fit of each shirt so they can choose what works for them.
The goal is not to make the customer adapt to the t-shirt. The t-shirt should make sense for the customer and their intended use.
Our sustainability approach is rooted in usefulness, durability, responsible thinking, and reducing unnecessary replacement.
A t-shirt that lasts longer, is worn more often, and is designed with better consideration can help challenge the throwaway cycle. Sustainability should not only be a slogan; it should show up in material choices, product purpose, customer education, packaging, care guidance, and long-term thinking.
The goal is not to make sustainability feel exclusive. It should feel accessible, practical, and part of everyday routine.
Good point. A good t-shirt should not only look good on day one. It should still feel trustworthy after multiple wears and washes. We look closely at the key signs of long-term quality: the strength of the seams, the stability of the collar, the fabric density and how the garment keeps its structure over time.
We source our blank t-shirts from known industry suppliers, with a track record or tests and certifications validating the quality of their products.
We hope you will. We want you to feel like the shirt can let you do anything... Within reason of course.
A clean, well-fitted, well-ironed and high-quality t-shirt can work under an over-shirt, blazer, jacket, or alternative layering. The difference is in the finish: neckline, fabric quality, color, drape, and how polished the shirt looks, wear after wear after wear.
We create t-shirts that do not feel out of place when your day moves from casual to slightly more considered.
For us, a fair price should reflect more than the logo or a desire for exclusivity.
Value is reflected in the fabric, construction, fit development, finishing, durability, comfort, and how often the t-shirt can realistically be worn. A cheaper shirt that needs replacing quickly may not be cheaper in the long run.
AKANAKA’s view is simple: value is not just what you pay at checkout. It is how often the shirt proves itself afterwards.
